This elegant gold and gunmetal twist pen is handcrafted in acrylic cast with two wooden bands on each end being sourced from wood of the USS Lexington, CV1-6. USS Lexington CV-16, nicknamed "The Blue Ghost", is an Exxex-class aircraft carrier built during Worl War II for the United States Navy. Originally to be named the Cabot, the new aircraft carrier was renamed while under construction to commemorate the recently lost USS Lexington CV2 which was sunk in the Battle of The Coral Sea. USS Lexington was commissioned in February 1943 and saw extensive service during World War II. The USS Lexington was de-commissioned in 1947 but was re-commissioned in 1955. Lexington was de-commissioned again in 1991 and now is docked in Corpus Christi, TX where she operates as the USS Lexington Museum.
