This classic gold and gunmetal twist pen is handcrafted from wood salvaged from the battleship USS Iowa. The USS Iowa is the first of four Iowa class battleships, the USS Iowa, the USS Missouri, the USS Wisconsin, and the USS New Jersey. The USS Iowa was commissioned on February 22, 1943. Several times she served as a transport for FDR and as such had the distinction of being the only battleship to have a bathtub installed. This was done to accommodate FDR. This pen is special to me since my father was an original crew member and served proudly aboard her during WWII.
